 EXPERIENCE

Executive Director and CEO

FOCUS North America

National nonprofit serving working poor and homeless; 15-20 employees

January 2009 – Present (3 years) Kansas City and nationally

As Executive Director of FOCUS North America I have overall strategic, fundraising and operational responsibility for FOCUS North America’s staff, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission to provide food, occupations, clothing, understanding and shelter for North America's working poor and homeless.

In leadership and management I am responsible to ensure ongoing local programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems.

I actively engage and energize FOCUS North America's volunteers, board members, local event committees, partnering organizations, and funders. I develop, maintain, and support a strong board of directors; serving as an ex-officio member of each committee, seeking and build board involvement with strategic direction for both ongoing local operations as well as for the national rollout.

I am responsible to ensure effective development and program systems to track donor-base health, organizational scale-up and progress, and regularly evaluate program components, so as to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and other key constituents.

In fundraising and communications I am responsible to lead a small virtual and local team to expand revenue generating and fundraising activities and support existing program operations and the annual campaign.

I designed FOCUS' national expansion plan and completed the strategic business planning process for program expansion into new locales. I am responsible to build partnerships in new locales, establishing relationships with the funders and political and community leaders at each expansion site.
